It was established in accordance with the Law on Payment of Monetary Compensation to Victims of Violent Crimes, the purpose of which is to provide financial compensation to victims, as assistance from the state, in accordance with the principle of social solidarity and to prevent secondary victimization as additional suffering that victims may undergo from the attitude of the competent authorities. In the past period, the Commission has achieved significant progress, including the legal legitimacy to act as an independent body by adopting the Rules of Procedure and the procedure for submitting claims for monetary compensation, which is an important step towards facilitating access to justice for victims of violent crime.
